SARANGI LESSONS

Shyam has been teaching his entire 30 year long career, and is an expert, caring teacher of Nepali traditional music. Shyam founded the Himalayan Heritage Cultural Academy in Boston, MA to create a platform for Nepali Traditional Music and Dance to be taught in North America and outside of Nepal.

SHYAM was born into the Gandharva tradition in Kathmandu, and learned the art of Nepali music from his father and grandfather. Learning with Shyam is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and a precious gift!

Musical arts, like languages, are living traditions that die away if they are not passed down to the next generation.


Shyam was the recipient of a Teaching Artist Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council for 2018-2019.
